Collaborative decision-making and conflict resolution

Challenges & trends

In situations of uncertainy and confusion, autonomous decisions often lead to poor outcomes and often fatal misjudgments, resistance and paralysis of business processes. The constructive co-coordination of decisions and often, the common finding of solutions enable and encourage collaboration and create a willingness to act – both between line functions and areas as well as with external partners.
At the same time it must not lead to fruitless, endless meetings.
These collaborative decision-making processes and the solutions for decision-making conflicts are influenced by the mental maps of participants, personal preferences, risk-taking behaviours and group dynamics. The conscious shaping and managing of these elements is what leads to successful collaborative decisions and conflict resolutions.
